We’ve performed at events for this long because we play music that audiences still enjoy
Mike LaRoche, long-time Sweet Georgia Sound band leader
Sweet Georgia Sound has brought both traditional and contemporary big band music to weddings, fund raisers and civic events for almost 30 years. SGS plays frequently at the Chattanooga Market and has performed multiple times at the annual Riverbend downtown Chattanooga music festival. We have some excellent jazz groups in Chattanooga. They have some of the best players around. If you are into jazz, you’ll recognize the songs they play. We play the songs everyone else knows.

Sweet Georgia Sound plays the American Standards. The songs are the bedrock of America’s contemporary musical heritage. While only occasionally a part of current popular music, the songs are familiar and well-loved. Audiences still enjoy them. Sweet Georgia Sound adds more songs as the old becomes new again.
